Who is Thorsten Titze ??

Written: January 1st, 2000 - 16:12 By: Thorsten Titze

To begin with, I am a 1976 born student of Japanology at the Free University of Berlin. My affection for electrical equipment (back in these times most families did not own a home computer) began quite early. My parents are still telling stories that the best toy they could give me was a electrical-cable.

It seems that during that time I began realizing my career. My computer career (is this really a career ??. To be honest, I don't think so) started when I was six years old, when my dad bought the Commodore 64 (price: $550 !!) with a Commodore 1541 DiskDrive (price: $500 !!). On this system I made my first basic experiences with BASIC (what a mighty language this is.... phew). My first self-owned computer was the Commodore VC-20 a kinda light version of the C64. But my real hacking/coding activities started with the invention of the Commodore Amiga. This system started a new generation of computers with a nice GUI (Windows was far from what it is now back then).

My primary programming language was Assembler. We did some demos but nothing really fancy. It was the time of my A-Level exams when I owned my first PC (I never wanted to have a PC but when SVGA came the Amiga was no longer superior), but during that time I was quite fed up with computers since I attended a Communication Electronics School so I concentrated on the other side of life.

Gladly this happened, I have really been what people might call a computer jerk but gladly I changed. It was during this time I started surfing and skiing. I also started training Karate which is a wonderful martial-art which trains the whole body but also the brain-hand coordination.

Privatly, I never got back as deep into the programming/coding as I have been in my Amiga-times. But after starting working at Siemens this changed a bit. I learned Java, Perl and some proprietary Protocol-Testing Language. But my spare-time is no longer being used for programming or anything like that.

Before I forget, right now I am single but I was never searching for a girl in my life. Love is where love falls. One day I will meet a girl with which I consider spending the rest of my life together.

Whether this happens sooner or later, I cannot tell.

Well, I do not know if this was what you wanted to know.. But anyway.. I just told it ;)..

Have fun while browsing my site. BTW.: A photo of myself will follow shortly..
