Short update / what's going on...
Posted: April 29th, 2001 @ 08:47 By: Thorsten Titze

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but my mind is on other things right now but I hope to get a major update online early in May.

Playstation 2 development is still a bit tricky since there are no free high-level libs available yet but I will cover everything that is needed and available in my PS2DEV section.

Concerning the PSX modchip using in the PS2, I didn't get around yet to install my modchip. It's sitting in its socket on my desk. I guess this will be done on monday or tuesday next week.

Concerning the rumors about the finalchip , a German consoleshop offered for pre-order last week. No one has seen this chip rocking anyhow inside a PS2 yet. On April 28th they got first chips and are testing them (at least that's what they say) but I won't be surprised if it turns out to be a hoax.

These people should've used a different information strategy, not busting ever rumor around like wild. This does not serve the scene or their reputation as a reliable shop (not that I could care less about the last).

Some links updated...

I got word that some links in the Dreamcast section were throwing 404's. This should be fixed now. During the last update of the website I just forgot to upload some of the files for this section.

If there are still broken links please report them.

Playstation 2 ModChip and ActionReplay 2
Posted: April 10th, 2001 @ 21:01 By: Thorsten Titze

Finally my Action Replay 2 V1.3 arrived with which (in conjunction with a ModChip) you are enabled to swap self-made CD's and boot these up. I will chip my PS2 after the easter-holidays and will post the results.

On a side-note, do not fall for the Neo2 ModChip which is being sold way too expensive. There is no magic behind this chip apart from it being a normal PSX ModChip with some additional code that enables the so called EA-Swap Method. Personally I got the PSX SuperChip from Activated.de (a shop in Germany) which sells the ModChip including a socketed-board for soldering in for $08.00. You also get the plan on how to chip the PS2.

One MPEG4v3 Software Release:
FlaskMPEG 0.60b - a lot of new features but not faster - Download it here

Playstation 2 and some other news...
Posted: April 09th, 2001 @ 19:02 By: Thorsten Titze

After quite some hazzle with work (the company thought about sending me to the U.S.A. for app. 1/2 year) and my company deciding not to send me away I'm back in the console-dev business and be assured that I will update my site more frequently now.

I just got into the Playstation 2 (so to say I got one) and will post preliminary results soon. Also expect some information on the modchip for PS2 which will allow you to boot your own-coded software.

IMPORTANT:
I do not support piracy in any way. All questions regarding trademarked software or piracy in general will be ignored !!!
