This short tutorial only refers
to the audio part of
converting a movie. For a detailed
explanation of how to convert
the video part of a DVD refer
to the following sections:

Once you finished the video
part it's time to deal with
the audio-part. Here is a step-by-step
guide on how to multiplex and
existing AC3 stream with
MPEG4 Video :
- Download the AVI-AC3
Multiplexer Package
- Unpack into a directory
of your choice
- Start the included batchfile
that installs the AC3
filters.
Windows 98: registerfilters-98.bat
WinNT/Win2k: registerfilters-2k.cmd
- Demultiplex the audiostream
using vstrip or alternatively
you could have checked the
DirectStreamCopy checkbox
in FlaskMPEGs settings for
Audio or you could have used
SmartRipper to demux
(so you have alot of options
to choose from)
- Copy the changed VirtualDub-AC3.exe
to your VirtualDub directory.
(you may also just start
the executable)
- Start VirtualDub-AC3.exe
- Use menu File->Open
video file... and choose
your converted video.
- Choose menu Video->Direct
Stream Copy
- Use menu Audio->WAV
Audio and select your
AC3 File
- VirtualDub will state the
bitrate and format of the
AC3 File
- Select menu Audio->Interleaving
The following window will
appear:
- Set Preload to 160
ms
- Set Interleave audio
every to 160 ms
(Make sure that the
ms checkbox is checked)
- Hit OK
- Choose menu Audio->Direct
Stream Copy
- If your have chosen your
movie to fit onto 2 CDs you
might also want to split it
up now
- Choose menu Video->Select
Range...
Now set the lenths appropriatly:
1st CD)
- Start offset has to be set
to 0
- Length should be set to
the half of Length
2nd CD)
- Start offset has to be set
around the Length of CD1
- End offset should be set
to 0
(the length should be set
automatically to the right
value)
- Hit the OK button
- Save file with File->Save
AVI...
(you have to do with with
ever disc you decided to make)
